Hello! What setting is it in Webinar to make it so the attendees don’t see the black squares of the cohosts when their camera is off during:

1. the live session

2. a hardrive recording

Whenever I feel like I have this conquered something changes and bam, same issue,

Thanks!

Hi @Librarycat! As the webinar host, you can set the default view for attendees with these steps:

  • Click the View button at the top right corner of the Zoom window.
  • Select Attendee View -> Speaker

Alternatively, you can also enable and use the Spotlight feature that lets you highlight up to 9 participants as primary active speakers during a meeting or webinar:

  • Hover over the video of the person(s) you want to show.
  • Click the three dots (...)
  • Select Spotlight for Everyone
  • Only the spotlighted videos will be visible to the attendees, effectively hiding everyone else, including co-hosts with their video off.

As for the hard drive/local recording, it typically captures the same view you are seeing at the time. To change the settings:

  • Click the arrow up (^) next to Video in your host controls.
  • Select Video Settings
  • Scroll to the bottom of the video settings window and check the box for "Hide non-video participants"
  • Ensure your personal view is set to Speaker View during the recording

If you are using Cloud Recording, you have much more control over the layout of the file:

  • Log in to https://zoom.us
  • Go to Settings > Recording > Cloud Recording
  • You'll see options for different recording layouts like Active Speaker, Gallery View, etc. You can enable/disable your preferred options

In addition to more layout options, you can also download recordings saved to the cloud. I hope this helps!
