Zoom Icon not displaying number of chat notifications

Hello Community!

The Zoom Icon in my task-bar is no longer displaying the number of unread or new chats I have. It was a notification; a red icon with the number of chats hovering over the Zoom Icon. However now the Zoom Icon just blinks when I have unread or new chat messages and I don't always see it blinking. 

1. Suggestions on how to get the number of unread or new chats notification back to hover over the Zoom Icon.

2. Suggestions on other ways to get notified of the number of unread or new chats as they come in.

Please fix this. I miss messages all the time.

I noticed that when I changed my taskbar to "Use small taskbar buttons", those numbers did not display but once I turned that setting off they reappeared. (Right click on your taskbar and select Taskbar settings).
