Issues Setting Up Logitech Rally Bar Without Tap Controller (Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms, Google Meet)

Hello,

I'm experiencing multiple issues trying to set up my Logitech Rally Bar without a Logitech Tap controller.

  1. Zoom Rooms:
I downloaded the Zoom Rooms Controller app on my iPad and entered the pairing code shown on the Rally Bar, but the code is always marked as invalid. My organization has a Zoom license, but I’m not sure if it’s the right type.
Do I need a specific Zoom Rooms license for this to work?

  2. Microsoft Teams Rooms:
When trying to connect, the system tells me that “your current license is not supported by this device.”
Does Teams Rooms require a special Microsoft 365 license?

  3. Google Meet:
    The Rally Bar says:
“A touch controller isn’t paired to this device. Tap the gear icon to open Settings. Press & hold the Bluetooth button on the back of the device for 5 seconds and then pair the device in Settings.”
Can I use an iPad or any other tablet instead of the Logitech Tap controller? Or is the original Tap required for Google Meet?

Overall, my questions are:

  • Do I need special licenses (Zoom Rooms / Microsoft Teams Rooms) to use the Rally Bar with these platforms?

  • Can I use an iPad as a controller instead of the Logitech Tap?

  • Is it possible to set up and control the Rally Bar fully without the original Tap controller?WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I only have experience with Zoom Rooms, so I'll answer those parts. This is the process for my organisation so ymmv.

The below is if you intend to set up the Rally Bar in APPLIANCE MODE as a Zoom Room (as opposed to BYOD/USB mode).

The Zoom Rooms license is different to a standard user licence.

1. Go to http://zoom.us/location to check if your organisation has any ZR licenses; if you do then there'll be an existing building structure (maybe) and the number of licenses associated with your account will be listed on the top right corner of that page.

2. Create a new "Room" to automatically generate an Activation Code that you can then use to register the Rally Bar to your Zoom Room license

  • Navigate to the Room Settings page for that specific room and search for the Activation Code subheading
  • You should see a 16 digits split up like: 0000-0000-0000-0000
    • If you don't see any numbers under the Activation Code subheading, click the "regenerate" button for a new code
    • After some time the code expires so you'll need to regenerate a new one for the same room if you want to connect another device
    • You shouldn't have to use the newly generated code on any existing devices if they're still logged in
  • There's a whole bunch of settings you can configure for the room, but you can do all of that later

3. Register your Rally Bar to the Zoom Room - no Logitech Tap required

  • Plug in a mouse/keyboard set into the USB-A port and you'll be able to click through all the set up prompts and type in what you need.
  • A touch-enabled monitor works too, just plug the monitor's USB cable (for touch control) into the Rally Bar's USB-A port, alongside the HDMI so you can see what you're doing

Once Zoom Rooms is installed on the Rally Bar, go to SIGN IN (top right corner) → ACTIVATION CODE → Enter the 16 digit activation code

4. Now you can pair your iPad up with the Zoom Room as a controller (it cannot be done before the Rally Bar is registered on Zoom)

  • Select ZOOM ROOMS CONTROLLER → SIGN IN (top left corner) → ACTIVATION CODE
