Checking Voicemails Over Phone

Hello All,

We have staff that miss being able to call in to access their voicemail box and change their greeting while they are not in the office.  It looks like Zoom has a similar capability here, but it wasn't enabled by default: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0068936

Has anyone enabled this in their environment?  If so, are there any security implications to consider?  How about positives and negatives after enabling?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Tony

Hi Tony,

Do your staff have Zoom accounts they can log into? I find that's the easiest way manage greetings. Just log into the Zoom account on the web and access the Phone panel on the left.

Yep.   User prefers to make changes from a phone though.

Our team has decided that the security implications are minimal since there's a global setting and a per user setting that needs to be enabled to work.  However, we're opting to push Zoom Mobile App and Web portal as the preferred methods for accessing voicemail/greeting options rather than enabling the settings (for now).

In the specific user's case, they will use the Zoom Mobile app, and dial *86 from it to access voicemail.

Thanks for your reply!

Very handy to set up a speeddial button on the phone labeled "voicemail" and have it go to *86

What doesn't work well and is very awkward is checking from onther phone or checking vocemail for a shared line as it requires dialing the number and waiting for voicemail to answer.
