screen sharing a particular screen using hot keys

Hello,

I have a question about sharing a particular screen using hotkeys.

I use a stream deck in my Zoom meetings, and often, I use the notes section on my external iPad to draw something out for the other person on the call.

Using the stream deck, I can use the 'share screen' function (as a hotkey), but then I have to manually select (with my mouse) the 'advanced share' function to use my iPad notes section for the screen share.

Can I bypass the manual aspect to automatically share the 'advanced share screen'?

I have contacted Stream Deck support, and they have directed me to Zoom.

If there is a hotkey function on Zoom, I can get the streamdeck to use it.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

James

There some "keyboard shortcuts". Go to settings >keyboard shortcuts to see what is available. The closest possible one might be alt+shift+S.

If that does not work for you then you may want to consider a totally different workflow such as using a mirroring link thru OBS Studio or using a video capture link from the ipad to OBS Studio. However you will probably need multiple screens. OBS Studio can then be used as a sophisticated switcher to send output to Zoom via screen share or virtual camera or via NDI.

Thanks very much for your reply.

My concern is how to instruct my streamdeck/Zoom to recognise that when I press a button (the share screen to my iPad only), it will do this and this only. I wondered if using the multi-action task on my streamdeck may be an option, too.

I have no knowledge on OBS. I'll do some research to see if this can resolve this.

Thanks again for your reply.

Streamdeck can be integrated with OBS Studio

Connecting the iPad via Screen capture will be a BEST WAY integration of the iPad rather than trying to use airplay or screen mirroring.

OBS Studio will permit ALL your content (including your webcam, all your audio sources, videos, images, slide shows, NDI video sources, etc) to be handled as a screen share to Zoom or as a webcam to Zoom depending on the visual detail needed. Remember that an iPad screen by default is NOT 16:9 aspect ratio as is Zoom's video, but OBS will allow you to change that by resizing the captured stream (OBS can even zoom in on parts of the iPad screen). Also if you need more complex controls OBS Studio can run multiple instances and Zoom can run multiple sessions (but that is probably beyond you at this time). OBS Studio is THE standard FREE tool used today in streaming productions. See https://obsproject.com
