provide captions to attendees

My wife gets her zoom account through her work, and it allows her to have captions.

When we zoom with my parents, who I believe are using the free version, they cannot see or find options to turn on captions. My father has hearing issues and it would be lovely to have captions for our meetings.

Is this a free vs paid issue?

Or perhaps they are on an older version?

Sorry if this is a dumb question...

Thanks!

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @fmiller.

See this Zoom Support article for some details:

If they have an old version of Zoom installed, it should automatically update. If they are using the web browser to join, there shouldn’t be an issue. And it’s available to all accounts.

The caption feature does not require a paid account. If you and your wife are able to see the Show Captions menu on the meeting control bar, your father should be able to see it, too. If possible, please advise your father to try upgrading to the latest zoom client and try again.
