I was giving a presentation and plugged my computer into a projector - then when i tried to go on zoom - i couldn't hear my participants and they could not hear me.  Even when i unplugged from the projector and went in and out of the meeting - it still wouldn't work.

Any ideas?

Your computer saw the projector as a new monitor and speaker device. Did you  adjust the settings on your computer/ Zoom to use the actual devices you wanted after you pugged in the DP?

In future, I would suggest that you plug in the projector and turn it on before starting the Zoom session. Make sure to configure Zoom before you start a session.

Order of operations matter when connecting modern AV equipment. Projectors do a handshake with the computer.
