Last year I created a pro zoom account under a fictitious name.  That account will expire on May 5.  In anticipation of the expiration of my first account, I set up another zoom account with my real name.  I THINK I set it up with the same meeting number and password.  How can I make sure it will work?

If the two users are still on separate accounts – that is, each user is the owner of their respective account — invite the new user to join the account of the old user, then make the newly joined user the Owner of the account. Reassign the paid licenses from the old user to the new user.  You could then either keep the old user as a Basic user, or simply delete it.
