download speed during meetings

Whilst a meeting is in progress download speed appears to be affected.

When there is no meeting taking place. a large file downloading (about 5GB) would download at speed of connection (about 300mbit/s). However whilst meeting is taking place the download speed appears to drop down to 11mbit/s. The bandwidth itself is not an issue because on a different machine on the same internet connection is able to download at over 200mbit/s

Additionally using the speed tests fast dot com and wifiman dot com shows 11/300 during meetings. But strangely speedtest dot net shows 300/300

OS : windows 10, updates are current

version : 5.13.12053 64bit
Also hearing from someone else it appears to happen on a mac too.
Is Zoom reserving bandwidth somewhere that cripples other programs elsewhere?

It is possible that Zoom is using a significant amount of bandwidth during a meeting, which could affect the download speed of other applications running on the same machine. However, the fact that a different machine on the same internet connection is able to download at over 200mbit/s suggests that the issue may be specific to the machine running Zoom.

Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check Zoom settings: Open the Zoom app and navigate to Settings > Video > Meetings, then check the settings for "Enable HD" and "Touch up my appearance." If these settings are enabled, try disabling them to see if it improves the download speed.

  2. Check network settings: Check your network settings to make sure that the machine running Zoom has a stable and reliable connection. If possible, connect the machine directly to the router using an Ethernet cable, rather than relying on a wireless connection.

  3. Update network drivers: Check for any updates to the network drivers on the machine running Zoom, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with bandwidth and connectivity.

  4. Try a different video conferencing tool: If the issue persists, try using a different video conferencing tool to see if the same issue occurs. This can help determine if the issue is specific to Zoom or if it is a more general issue with the machine or network.

It is also possible that Zoom is reserving bandwidth that could be used by other programs, but this is less likely given that a different machine on the same network is able to download at higher speeds during a meeting.

Settings are good, no HD on, no touch up my appearance. Already on a stable connection via ethernet. Drivers are up to date. It appears to do this under the same conditions in WebEx as well as Zoom. I was thinking it could be traffic shaping/network protocol prioritization. But these were all disabled on the router without having any effect.
