curious zoom behaviour

I have a Zoom Pro Plan, and have been somewhat successfully managing my piano studio needs.  Today, @1518_2 min. prior to the close of a meeting, balloons were launched onto the desktop, rather annoyingly, and unprompted by me.  @1034_2 minutes later a thumbs down emoji came onto my screen, and my student froze and was booted off the meeting.  I was also not permitted screen sharing capacity, which I've never had a problem with.  I did get a message that zoom wanted to access some thing, which I didn't want, because it had to do with recording, which I also didn't want.

I've never had this erratic behavior occur before while in a zoom meet.  What is happening here?
