can't use powerpoint remote when in zoom

We are using a BlackWeb presentation remote, which works with powerpoint apps and desktop versions when zoom is not open. But whenever we start or join a meeting, it no longer works. The only button which does work is the escape button. We've tried wiping zoom off the computer and reinstalling the newest version, but that hasn't worked for us.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately, we've tried this solution but it hasn't worked for us. I'm starting to suspect that perhaps this particular brand of presentation remote may not be compatible with zoom? We have zoom updated to the latest version but that hasn't made us any progress either.
