Zoombombing

Hi,

There is a glitch in the zoom program.  When a zoombombing occurs and we Suspend Participant Activities- the participants should not be able to do anything at all.

But, they can use the react button.  And raise their hand and put their hand down over and over, thus making their square jump to the front of the cue and then back to their original spot.  This is occurring on multiple paid accounts with very strict security settings set up.

And if there are multiple zoombombers at the same time, then multiple people are raising their hand over and over and they then are jumping to 2 squares each.  Making it much more difficult to remove and report them.

Why does the zoom program allow all participants to "react" when the host has enabled the "suspend participant activities" which is supposed to freeze and lockdown everything?

Thank you

Hello @meganlizabeth

I am reading all the issues you are describing and I am surprised they are happening because Zoom has a protection to all of them.

  • You can Kick out and Report a participant out, and they won't be able to join: I am surprised the action was to suspend and let them still in the meeting. The correct action for a Zoombomber should be prevent from participating: Avoiding a plain Guest and Unauthenticated users to join a meeting, or to Disconnect, which prevents them from joining again. Suspending a participant is a very mild action: Documentation says only prevents Audio | Video | Apps | Share Screen, but it doesn't say anything about Chat, Questions, Reactions, etc.

This is a good article I recommend reading (in case you haven't done it yet); the second one is about reporting inappropriate behavior:

https://www.zoom.com/en/products/virtual-meetings/resources/securing-your-meetings/

https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0067474

I hope this helps clarify a bit. If so, please mark it as (Accept as Solution).

Vinnie.

My question is- why when we "suspend participant activities" are participants able to "react".  Reacting is an activity.
