Zoom iOS app badge icons not clearing

Is anyone else having constant trouble with the app badge icons in the Zoom app for iOS? Previously I was having weird issues where me sending another user a chat via my computer would generate a badge icon on my zoom app on my phone. That is still happening but now I have the added annoying problem of the badge icons not clearing. I have a badge of 1 even if I have read all my chats. I can make it go away by marking a message as unread and then reading it but as soon as I get another message, the badge is back and doesn’t go away. Anyone else having this issue? I think it started around the time I upgraded to iOS 18.

Speaking of iOS 18, why in the world hasn’t Zoom updated their app icon to support dark mode like every other app maker has? Really makes it seem like the devs don’t know what they are doing.

Likewise. It is still happening for me as well on iOS with app version 6.3.6 (21566).

same problem here.  What a pain.  Force close app then restart clears the issue but I find myself doing it multiple times a day.

Hello Community Members,

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please try the below steps to see if this can solve your problem:

  1. Please login on a desktop Zoom client, select any channel, click right key to get below menu, click Notifications → Check ‘No count displayed’, and then → recheck ‘Count unread messages'.

  2. Kill the iOS Zoom app and then relaunch the Zoom app (the badge number will be resynced by server) to see if the issue could be solved.

Let us know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

I have followed these steps and I will update you in a few days on whether or not this solves the issue. Thanks.

k, I'll do that, but do we need to re-enable count unread messages later?

Force ending the zoom app always fixes the issue in that instance. But it will happen again as soon as someone sends a couple new messages. This is kind of hard to test since killing zoom already resets it. Unless you mean doing this could permanently fix it in which case I will let you know as I just did it.

It sounds like a frustrating issue with badge icons and iOS 18 compatibility. I’ve seen similar complaints about Zoom’s app not supporting dark mode, which could be causing these bugs.

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon, it keeps failing most of the time, but not every time as it did before.Unfortunately, I spoke too soon, it keeps failing most of the time, but not every time as it did before. It has not been fixed.

It's really something that this has been an ongoing issue for so long. It makes me think it's not even really being worked on seriously. Not sure why that would be though as it is such a glaring bug and seemingly happens to everyone I speak to about it. That's hundreds of people just in my organization. Can you confirm this issue has been replicated by Zoom developers and they are actively addressing it? Can you provide a version number or release date that will contain a fix for this? I see other fixes listed in upcoming releases that are fixing things that don't seem nearly as important as a problem like this.

This issue of the badge icons seems to be a lot better for me since the last update. I can't say for sure it is resolved yet but i haven't noticed the problem in a couple of days now. Fingers crossed.
