On April 16, between 2:25 P.M. ET and 4:12 P.M. ET, the domain zoom.us was not available due to a server block by GoDaddy Registry. This block was the result of a communication error between Zoom’s domain registrar, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy Registry, which resulted in GoDaddy Registry mistakenly shutting down zoom.us domain. Zoom, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy worked quickly to identify and remove the block, which restored service to the domain zoom.us. There was no product, security or network failure at Zoom during the outage. GoDaddy and Markmonitor are working together to prevent this from happening again.

Zoom breakout rooms on mobile app

  •  I’m a frequent user of Zoom’s mobile app for hosting and joining meetings while on the go, and I’d like to suggest adding full breakout‑room management capabilities—specifically, the ability to create, assign, rename, and manage breakout rooms directly from the mobile client.

Current Limitation
At present, the Zoom mobile app allows participants to join breakout rooms but does not permit hosts or co‑hosts to create or adjust them during a live session . This requires hosts to switch to a desktop or web client whenever they need to split attendees into smaller groups.

Concrete Reasons for Mobile Management

  1. Mobile‑First Workflows: Many professionals rely exclusively on smartphones or tablets—especially when traveling, in the field, or during off‑site events. For these users, having to find a laptop to set up breakout rooms interrupts the flow of the meeting.
  2. On‑the‑Fly Adjustments: In dynamic sessions (e.g., workshops, remote training, virtual conferences), hosts often need to add or reassign rooms based on participant needs or last‑minute changes. Mobile management would let them respond instantly without pausing the meeting.
  3. Inclusivity & Accessibility: Educators and community organizers in areas with limited access to desktops would benefit enormously. Enabling full breakout controls on mobile ensures everyone can host engaging, interactive sessions regardless of device.

Benefits to Zoom & Your Users

  • Enhanced Flexibility: Hosts can manage all aspects of their meeting from any device, reducing friction and device‑switching.
  • Increased Adoption & Retention: Organizations with mobile‑centric workforces (healthcare, construction, on‑site services) will be more likely to adopt Zoom as their primary meeting tool.
  • Competitive Edge: As other platforms expand mobile capabilities, Zoom can solidify its leadership by offering the most feature‑complete mobile experience in the market.
