Zoom always connects to US data center (DCA) instead of EU - Need help

Hello,

I'm located in Istanbul, Turkey. However, my Zoom client consistently connects to the United States (DCA) data center, which causes noticeable lag, audio/video sync issues, and slow screen sharing performance.

Even when I connect through a European VPN (Netherlands/Germany), Zoom still routes me through DCA. I believe my account or app may be stuck on this default routing.

I would like to connect to a closer data center – ideally in the EU region (FRA, DE, AMS, etc.) to improve real-time communication quality.

I am using:
- Windows 11
- Zoom client version 6.4.0 (62047)
- Free (Basic) account

Could you please help me switch my account’s default routing or advise how I can correct this?

Thank you.

Merhaba,
İstanbul'da yaşıyorum. Fakat Zoom istemcim her zaman ABD'deki DCA veri merkezine bağlanıyor.

I have no issues when doing a VPN from US to Istanbul then starting Zoom. Be sure you have other data centers selected in the web portal under settings > general > data and storage.

Data & Storage

Real-time data center location

Select the data center where Zoom will process real-time data for video, audio, shared content, whiteboards, docs, and notes when hosting meetings and webinars. Selecting all data centers can provide the best experience for participants joining from all regions. Opting out of data centers may limit participants joining from those regions from using CRC, dial-in, call me, and invite by phone.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your helpful advice.
I have checked the web portal as you suggested (Settings > General > Data and Storage), but unfortunately, I could not find the "Real-time data center location" option.

I am using a Basic (free) Zoom account, and it seems that this option is not available for free accounts.

Because of this, I am unable to manually select European data centers.
Even when connecting through a European VPN, my Zoom sessions are still routed to the US (DCA) data center.

Is there any way Zoom support can manually switch my account’s preferred data center region to Europe (EU)?
Or is there any alternative solution you recommend for Basic account users facing this routing problem?

Thank you again for your time and support.
