Why is Zoom ruining everything?

In the past year or so, Zoom keeps making changes that make the entire experience terrible and more laborious. Commonly used features are being put behind multiple steps. At least give us the options to revert to how it was or to edit things?

1 - No "End Meeting" button anymore from Meeting Controls whilst screen sharing, you have to click on "Show Meeting" first (or end the screen share) in order to see the option

2 - Screen sharing options now on 3rd "Advanced" tab

3 - Screen sharing via AirPlay no longer works. The "Zoom-device-name" item doesn't show up. I have "AirPlay Receiver" switched off as suggested by Zoom Support. I tried again after switching it back on to see if that worked but it didn't.

Why is Zoom determined to make life harder and more complicated?

For issues 1 and 2, there's nothing I can do because Zoom have made the changes in their apps and I've scoured all possible settings but there's no option to move stuff around for those specific things.

For issue number 3, I've tried:

The Zoom app is up to date on my devices.

My devices have the latest firmware running.

I've tried on multiple devices and instances of Zoom.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom.

I've tried restoring my Macs and also my iPads from factory default.

Thank you! They have ruined the application as far as I am concerned.

  • I agree they have screwed up screen sharing.
  • I had two accounts, and they kept conflating/confusing the two. I deleted one of the accounts, but they continue to prompt for that account's credentials/sign-in.
  • The "help" facility is useless. A troupe of monkeys could write better documentation. When a specific inquiry is posed, the  respondents repeat back your inquiry, ask for all your system settings (plus your planet, your waist size, and Avogadro's number) and proceed, over the many emails, TO DO NOTHING. They are allergic to telephones.
  • On many occasions, the "security" that they have worked out with Google/Gmail sends the poor user around in circles. If you must validate your subscription using Gmail, but Gmail needs you to validate your subscription to Gmail, it's a perfect circle of unfathomable stupidity.

Please add the following to the WHY?!?TF List:

"Disabling drag/drop and filesharing in the chat" (it's infuriating)

"Dual screen windows in addition to the other windows (Zoom launches 3-4 windows) at once"

Arg!
