I have the same issue. It worked fine for years, and now it just won't connect.
I'm given Error 5003, which is about connecting to the Zoom servers. But I don't have any other connection problems, nor any VPNs or firewalls that might cause issues. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn't help.
I can't speak for Poppydog, but I can tell you my experience, @Ray_Harwood.
Zoom worked perfectly fine for years. Then, starting last week, it wouldn't connect whenever I tried to join a scheduled meeting. It would try for half a minute, then pop up a message that said I could not connect to the Zoom servers. Error 5003. I've had this same problem on multiple occasions since. Initially it was when I tried to launch it from the desktop app, so I went to the event on my linked Google calendar and tried to join the meeting from the invite there. That worked the first time I tried that, but it hasn't for any subsequent meetings.
Zoom recommends a few things to address Error 5003, none of which have resolved the issue:
Ensure you have a stable connection - Yes, I do. I can connect to absolutely everything else just fine, and can do so quickly and reliably.
Check with or disable any VPNs or firewalls - I don't use any of those.
Uninstall then reinstall the app, latest version - I did this. The problem persists.
I've done everything I can, but I still can't connect. It doesn't seem like the problem is on my end. In any case, there's nothing left for me to try.
