USB audio channel for Zoom Meeting output

What USB channels does Zoom Meeting use for audio output by default?

Is it possible to select different USB channels?

Thank you for the clarification. To configure Zoom to output on specific USB audio channels, unfortunately, Zoom doesn’t provide native settings to directly assign custom USB channels for left and right audio like other apps. Zoom typically defaults to standard stereo channels (USB 1 and 2). You may need to use a third-party audio routing tool or virtual audio software to manually map your preferred USB channels (37 and 38) to Zoom's output. I hope this helps!

To set up a USB audio channel for Zoom Meeting output, follow these steps:

1. **Connect USB Device**: Plug in your USB audio device (like a headset or external microphone) to your computer.

2. **Open Zoom**: Launch the Zoom application.

3. **Access Settings**: Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner to open the Settings menu.

4. **Select Audio**: Go to the “Audio” section.

5. **Choose USB Device**: Under "Speaker" and "Microphone," select your USB audio device from the dropdown menu.

6. **Test Audio**: Use the "Test Speaker" and "Test Mic" options to ensure everything is working correctly.

7. **Save Settings**: Once everything is set up, click "OK" or "Apply" to save your changes.

This will route your Zoom audio through the USB device for both input and output.

Thank you Tony, but I think you may have missed the point of my question.

I want to configure Zoom Meeting to output on specific USB audio channels. For example, left audio channel on USB channel 37, and right audio channel on USB channel 38.

The other apps I use default to the USB channels assigned to my computer, but Zoom Meeting seems to insist on using USB channel 1 for left audio and USB channel 2 for right audio. It seems to ignore the channels assigned to the computer.

i hope this clarifies my question.

Hi there! I am reading your advice and wondering if I can apply it to my tablet - android not Windows/Mac.  I have an external camera  I am trying to use to do zoom meetings on my large tablet, and I do not see anywhere in settings to select "Choose USB Device" - or test audio settings.  I imagine this is because it is the app and not the zoom website?  I have video but no auto when I am trying to operate with the camera.  Thank you!

Thank you Tony. I understand but am a little disappointed that software such as Zoom is not flexible enough to work with the more complex audio situations.

By the way, where did you find this information?

Please can someone help me solve this problem:

I'm attempting to present on-line music via ZOOM.

I have two vinyl decks and two CD decks from a 4 channel mixer into an Audient EVO4 which then is plugged into a laptop.

Participents have reported music cutting out during a show and was wondering if I have the correct settings and wondered if you could advise on how to configure ZOOM to ensure clear presentations.

Note, I have ethernet directly into the laptop in case of connectivity issues caused possibly by WiFi.

The mixer I'm using is a Pioneer DJM-750MK2 which is connected from the Master 2 sockets to the EVO4 sockets 1 & 2 via the usual red & white phono cables.

People commented on the following:

1) The music periodically was speeding up. I've Googled this and found that sometimes music will do 'catch-up' when background suppression is enabled as it sometimes identifies music as background noise and ZOOM attempts to ensure voices are given priority in meetings. Do I need to disable one of the settings?

2) The second point and more importantly, the music kept cutting out (choppy).

Could it all be caused by any of the following:

a) When I'm using the microphone switch on the mixer?
b) When using the mono-split/stereo switch when cueing up other channels on the mixer?

I've noticed something else which may or may not be significant.
When accessing the ZOOM audio settings:

Select Microphone

Zoom automatically connects to Mic I Line 1/2 (Audient EVO4) and I can see the coloured blocks extending from left to right denoting sound. Note, to test this 'Input Volume' you don't need to press 'test microphone' as it's registering sound automatically.

Other options in the drop down list are:

1) Mic I Line 2 (Audient EVO4)
2) Loop Back 2 (R) (Audient EVO4)
3) Loop Back 1 (L) (Audient EVO4)
4) Loop Back 1/2 (Audient EVO4)
5) Mic I Line Instrument 1 (Audient EVO4)

Select Speaker

Zoom automatically connects to Same as system (Main Output 1/2 (Audient EVO4)) and I can see NO coloured blocks extending from left to right denoting sound. Note, to test the 'Output Volume' you DO need to press 'test speaker' but this time only the circle of white LED lights on the EVO4 are moving around the dial and NO sound can be heard.

Other options in the drop down list are:

1) Main Output 1/2 (Audient EVO4)
2) Loop Back 1/2 (Audient EVO4)

Are you able to shine any light on this problem?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Steve
