I have a basic plan and didn’t have any problems for two years. Now I started getting a message to upgrade and the meeting gets cut off after 40 mi. Looking at Basic plan on Zoom webpage, it still states that 1:1 meetings don’t have time limit.
I would appreciate advise.

This behavior may have more to do with idle time than anything changing. There are definitely defined disconnect times for idle time. And as you state, Zoom still advertises and documents 1:1 meetings being able to run for up to 30 hours. I would find it hard to believe that they have made a change and not updated their website. That would light-up their helpdesk and that's something no tech company wants.
Here's a good article on Time Limits.
