Struggling to watch a recorded webinar

A few weeks ago I joined a webinar. The company delivering the webinar recorded the session and have sent me a link together with a password to watch the session over again.

I can watch the recording. However, I struggle to pause and restart it, it often will not restart. If I click to go back few minutes to listen again it often will not.  It was a technical session so the need to go back and forth is quite important.

The link opens in Safari on my Mac both of which are up to date.  I have a good broadband connection and can stream the usual streaming channels and of course I took park in the original recording without an issue.

Are there any particular settings I need to look out for on my Mac? Anything I might try to watch the recording without issue? Can I download the session and watch it locally?

Thank you for your help.

Hello @iwaddo,

Welcome to the Zoom Community! We're glad to have you here.

This may be a limitation with the codec on your browser; kindly try playing the recording with a different browser and let us know if it helped.

@MGSR

Hi, I powered up an old windows 10 laptop running Edge and the recording is streaming OK. I seem to be able to move back and forth and pause and restart as needed.

If there a minimum spec for a Mac and Safari, are they actually supported?  Also, I do use a number of the Apple privacy and network security settings and wondered if these maybe contributing to the intermittent problem. Again, do you have any recommend settings?

Thank you for your help.

Since the recordings are stored as MP4 files, they can be easily accessed and played on any device that supports MP4 playback, regardless of where the files are stored. Unfortunately, it seems that Safari does not support playing MP4 files; we would suggest downloading a different browser on your MacBook. For more information, you may check out this link.
