Shared Audio: Too loud for some, too quiet for others

In Zoom, each participant controls their own audio output volume on their device, but the host cannot adjust the shared audio volume for individual participants. Here’s how it works and what you can do:

• The host shares audio (such as computer sound or a video) with everyone in the meeting at the same level.
• Each participant can adjust the volume of Zoom on their own device using their system volume controls or the Zoom app’s volume slider.
• There is no built-in Zoom feature that allows the host to set different audio levels for different participants, nor can the host mute or adjust the shared audio for a specific attendee only.

For MacBook users, here are some tips:

1. Adjust Zoom Volume:

   • While in a Zoom meeting, use the volume keys on your MacBook to raise or lower the overall system volume.
   • If you want to adjust only Zoom’s volume (without affecting other apps), right-click the Zoom icon in the Dock and select “Show All Windows,” then use the in-meeting volume slider if available.

2. Use Third-Party Apps (Advanced):

   • Apps like “BackgroundMusic” or “Volume Mixer” for Mac allow you to control the volume of individual applications, including Zoom. This way, you can make Zoom louder or quieter without changing your whole system’s volume.

3. Mute Shared Audio:

   • If you want to mute the shared audio entirely, you can mute your speakers or use the Zoom meeting’s mute button, but this will mute all audio, not just the shared sound.
