Setting up a message on entry to the meeting

Hi, I've seen various posts about messages in the waiting room and sending messages to invitees when a meeting is cancelled, but my need is as follows:

I run a ukulele club which uses Zoom for remote attendees. Occasionally, I need to inform members that the session isn't taking place on a particular week. The problem is that the Zoom meeting number is known by a lot of people, not all of whom I have contact details for.

Therefore, I need to set up a message informing people when they enter the meeting that the session is cancelled. I don't use a waiting room as I don't want to be constantly admitting people during playing songs, as not all are able to join the sessions right at the start.

Is there something like a pop-up screen that I can use to put a message on?

Thanks

Paul

I cannot believe that Zoom hasn't implemented this yet. It's such an obvious missing function. I have a Zoom background that has a welcome + informational message - but this is only visible if I have my video on. I want to use the laptop for other things while I am waiting for people who may or may not show up -- e.g., to office hours -- so I prefer video to be off until someone enters.  How hard could it be to implement a default splash screen?

At the moment, Zoom doesn’t have a built-in feature to automatically show a custom message to participants as soon as they join a meeting.

The closest workaround is to use the waiting room and customize the waiting room message. You can enable the waiting room and add instructions or notes there so participants see it before being admitted.

Another option is to display a message manually by screen sharing a slide or using the chat to send a pinned message once participants join. Some hosts also use meeting descriptions or calendar invites to share important instructions in advance.

Hopefully, this is something Zoom considers adding as a native feature in the future.
