Samsung phone USB-C to HDMI TV audio

When connect my Samsung S10e phone to my TV using a USB-C to HDMI cable, the sound normally comes thru the TV.  This works for apps like Disney+, YouTube, and any other app I've tried except for Zoom.

What do I need to do to make my Zoom audio work thru the TV using an HDMI connection?

thanks,

Tom

Can you please try the following?

Close Zoom app.

Connect adapter.

Navigate to Settings->Apps->Zoom->App Permissions

Ensure both 'Microphone' and 'Nearby Devices' are both marked as 'Allowed'.

Navigate to Settings->Apps->Zoom->Storage and select 'Clear Cache'.

Reboot phone, leave adapter connected, log back into Zoom.

Generally speaking, there is a lack of transparency regarding how Zoom accesses Android audio devices - it would be great to be able to pull a list of audio/video devices recognized by the OS and manually select the appropriate device from within Zoom (similar to Windows and Mac clients).

There are serious audio issues on Zoom and I agree, why can we not have a drop down to allocate the audio aource as per the desktop version. I have various wireless mics that work on USB C but Zoom does not allow any of these to be used even though there is a pop up asking for permission for Zoom to access the audio from these. I think Zoom support and development should concentrate far more on getting the basics right rather than all the frills which are pretty useless anyway like share screen!

Thanks again for your help.  It's an older TV, without casting or BT support.   I think I'll have to live with the audio coming out of the phone.

Hello @Joaquint,

Can you try to connect the type C to HDMI and open the Quick Panel by swiping down from the top of the screen display device > Tap Media under the Quick settings icons > Tap the device you want to use for audio output.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

I tried this, too, and I had the same results as @Joaquint.  This works for Youtube and every other streaming app (like Hulu, Disney+), but not for Zoom.   This seems like  a bug in the Zoom app.

It doesn't have a media output for Zoom . For example if I put it for YouTube or any video it works by doing that but not for zoom

i can confirm that this seems to be a zoom issue. There is no option to set the output.

Even more curios:

GIVEN that i have youtube playing and that audio goes to the target device thru HDMI/Screen cast over WiFi

WHEN i start a zoom meeting

THEN the audio from YT is played on the phone/tablet and not anymore on the target device

So this seems to be a bug/lacking feature in zoom not handling this correctly.

It might also be connected to the fact, that Zoom also takes control of the microphone and b/c of that the audio is forced to be sent to the tables/phone instead of the target.
