Rode microphone disconnecting during meeting

I use Zoom for my yoga classes since many years without issues. Since about a month, I think since Zoom update to Workplace, I start my class sharing music from Spotify, as always, and using my Rode Wireless microphone. Suddenly, my mic disconnect and no more sounds are shared. When I try to unplug my mic or adjust the setting in Zoom, the whole app freezes and stop working. I have to start the meeting again and use my laptop microphone instead of my Rode microphone. Is there a solution to this issue??

A couple of questions:

-Which version of Zoom and which OS (including version) are you using?

-Have the Rode USB drivers been updated?

-Can you reproduce the issue reliably? If so, does the audio drop happen at roughly the same timestamp after each meeting is started?

NEVER physically unplug an audio device mid meeting, as this is likely to cause stability issues.

I have Zoom Workplace pro plan, downloaded the app March 22, 2025, whereas had been using the online browser version since 2020. I use my Macbook Air with Mac OS Monterey version 12.7.6.

I used an external microphone for years, since it has a special feature to pick up subtle sounds when I play a gong, during relaxation during a yoga class. I also use an external JBL speaker to play songs, so my students hear both me through the external mike, and the songs through the speaker.

I have had difficulties since I downloaded the workplace app. I wanted to buy a RODE wireless microphone instead, for when I walk and move about the room. It worked initially, then it wouldn’t work when playing the gong. So I switched microphones during a Zoom session, connecting to my external microphone then. I also clicked ON (The default sound is to KEEP Original Sound for Musicians Off), so people can hear the gong. It is something I have to do manually now whereas the old version of Zoom I didn’t have to do that. After playing music, I switch back to my RODE wireless to speak again.

Lots of work!

Did I mess up the Zoom session bc of switching back and forth?

I decided not to use RODE at all and just use the external mike like before. My sound healing and external JBL speaker do not pick up anymore and the recordings sound horrible.

I would love feedback.
