Recording a meeting

Hello,

I have a question about Zoom Meetings:

How can I prevent participants from recording a meeting? I only found one option in the settings that prevents everyone —including me— from recording a meeting. However, I need to record meetings.

I start Zoom on a MacBook Pro, Tahoe from the Zoom website.

To prevent participants from recording a Zoom meeting while still allowing yourself (the host) to record, you should use the following approach:

• By default, only the host can record a meeting.
• Participants cannot record unless you explicitly grant them permission during the meeting.

Here’s how to ensure only you can record:

1. In your Zoom web portal, go to Settings > Recording.
2. Make sure “Local recording” is enabled. This allows hosts to record.
3. Do not grant recording permission to participants during the meeting.
   • If a participant requests to record, you’ll see a prompt and can choose to allow or deny.
4. If you want to double-check during a meeting:
   • Click “Participants.”
   • Hover over a participant’s name, click “More,” and ensure “Allow Record” is not checked.

If you want to prevent all participants from recording by default:

• Do not give anyone the “co-host” role unless you want them to have recording privileges.
• Only the host and co-hosts can record if local recording is enabled.

Note: Participants can still use third-party screen recording tools outside of Zoom, but Zoom’s built-in recording feature will be restricted as described above.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I am having difficulty finding the options you mentioned, as the German translation does not really correspond to the English terms. I have activated the “Record to computer files” option, but now every meeting is automatically recorded. This should not happen. Or have I activated the wrong option?
