Hello, I’d like to ask about a technical issue that happened during a one-on-one Zoom class in January 2025.
Here are the details:
It was a 1:1 class with only the instructor and me.
The instructor joined with two different Zoom accounts – one for sharing a PowerPoint (PPT) and another for speaking as the presenter.
I also joined using two of my own Zoom accounts – one on my PC and one on my iPad.
During the class, the instructor said that the profile picture of my PC account displayed the “OBS” logo, and they assumed I was recording the session.
However, I was not recording, and OBS Studio was not installed or running on my computer at that time.
For your reference, I used OBS Studio a few years ago during the COVID-19 period to record casual online meetings with friends, but it has not been installed on my current computer for a long time.
I would like to clarify the following points:
Can Zoom automatically display a third-party application logo (like OBS) as a participant’s profile picture under any circumstances?
If OBS Studio was previously installed and then uninstalled, could any leftover settings or virtual camera drivers cause Zoom to show the OBS logo?
Does Zoom have any feature that replaces or overrides a user’s chosen profile image with an external program’s logo?
This misunderstanding has caused a dispute, so I’d really appreciate your technical confirmation regarding whether such a situation is technically possible in Zoom.
Thank you very much.
