Pinning unavailable for cohost even in small meetings

Seeing a bug in Linux where I'm unable to pin meeting participants as a cohost. When I mouse-hover on the "Pin" option in the right-click menu on the meeting pane, I see a tooltip: "Pinning is currently unavailable due to the high number of meeting participants." This is happening in meetings with less than 20 people. Seems like a bug!

Hey @DrewASLEnglish

Yes, the issue you're seeing—the "Pinning is currently unavailable due to the high number of meeting participants" tooltip in small meetings on the Zoom Linux client—is a known issue and has been reported as a bug by other users.

Since this is a client-side bug, here are the primary actions you can take:

  1. Update the Zoom Client: Some users in the community have reported that updating the Zoom Linux client to a newer version (e.g., version 6.4.12) resolved the pinning issue. Check for the latest update available for your Linux distribution (Flatpak, Snap, or native installer).

  2. Use the Participants Panel: As a temporary workaround, some users found they could still pin a participant by navigating to the Participants panel, hovering over the desired name, clicking More, and selecting Pin.

  3. Use Spotlight Instead (if Host): If you are the Host (or Co-host), consider using the Spotlight for Everyone feature instead of Pin. Spotlighting is similar to pinning but applies to all participants in the meeting (up to 9 videos), ensuring the person you want highlighted remains visible to everyone. This feature should function correctly for co-hosts.

If updating doesn't solve the problem, your best next step is to report the issue to Zoom's technical support team directly, as they can investigate application-specific bugs.

Thanks for the response. It's nice at least to confirm that it's not just me.
