New zoom meeting chat direct message seperator

So the latest Zoom update to the meetings has the private direct messages from participants to host open in seperate tabs. Previously, all messages, irrespective of public or direct would appear on one screen in a list. However when conducting classes where only questions can be asked from the teacher directly and no public nor private chat, this is extremely annoying. Especially in classes with many students, each time a new message comes up, it's required to go to that person's tab to read it.

Is there a way to revert it to the old way, where all messages comes in one screen?

Thanks in advance

I have not found a workaround for this -- I, too, host classes with many participants, and this 'feature' is now super annoying and is requiring a LOT more attention to track this.

Exactly. They need to give us a option to use it in the old way

Same here!  My settings have remained unchanged for months.  Yet, since last week, my students have not been able to message me within the same chat window I open at the start of my class.  Now their replies to my first question open a separate tab. Each.  Their second replies and beyond appear within this tab without any indication of the question they are replying to ... because the question numbers are in my/the main chat (not their tabs!!!).  Having to open and check each tab is a serious misuse of my time and impinges on my time-constrained lesson plan, for obvious reasons.

@zoom - please revert soon.  My thanks in advance.

I agree with you. To be fair, I see the purpose of this update and it can be useful in certain sitautions. However we need to be able to switch between the old and new methods too.
