Is it possible to post a notification in the meetings waiting room that a meeting has been cancelled, previous to the start of the meeting?

Hey @MMMary welcome to the community! Yes, you could do this, but it would not be the best use case for informing your participants that the meeting has been canceled.

Suggest enabling the following Zoom web portal settings, which will notify the host and participants when the meeting is cancelled, i.e. when the meeting is deleted.

Can you clarify who/what participants get the notification about the cancellation? Does this only work for meetings with registration (and those that have registered get the notification)? Does it somehow work in Zoom in integrated with a calendar and it pulls the guests from the calendar and notifies them?

Yes, I would do that first, perhaps using the chat tool.  Then also send cancellation notifications.  I agree with you that those who don't check that email etc. should be disappointed as gracefully as possible.
