Installing zoom on drive other than C:

I have seen threads about this, but I have seen no response that makes sense. It looks like the company is ignoring or avoiding the subject.

 

Is there any valid reason that Zoom must install on C: and the users are not allowed to customize the install folder (Windows 10)?

 

If not, why does Zoom not allow it -- does it have any intention to do it, and if not, why not?

You are correct, there is no general information to install Zoom in a custom directory.
I did ask this to a corporate admin friend, and he said he thought you could change this with an install App like winget,

but he does let Zoom install in the default directory.
You could also use a virtual directory.
Otherwise, I have not seen anything from Zoom, and I am a Zoom developer, but not a member of Zoom.

Do you have a clear use case ot reason why Zoom would need to add this?

Thank you for responding.

That was my finding too and I simply cannot understand why they're not allowing users a custom install. Practically all apps allow it. What is more, they do not even explain why not.

 

I have Windows on C, applications on D, and data on E. This helps significantly with maintenance. I do not like the mess of mixing them up. Zoom is the the only application that installs on C.

This is a 3rd issue I raised that Zoom does not address or respond too. But it is very insistent that I close my sessions here.

 

Time to consider alternatives.

 Not just a solution, but also an explanation why the C: install. Thank you. I wonder why nobody has provided it before, particularly since the question was asked multiple times.

 

If I understand you correctly. the MSI installer prompts you to choose your drive, right?

Other than the drive choice, what are the implications of an MSI install on an end user on a single machine? Any hassles?
