Inquiry Regarding Recent Zoom Performance Issues

Hello,
I’ve recently noticed that Zoom has been running much slower than usual.
Could you please help identify the possible causes and suggest any ways to resolve this issue?

One recent change on my end is that I switched from an annual subscription to a monthly subscription this October.
I would appreciate it if you could also check whether this change might have affected the performance.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hey @dyzoom1,

First, to address your specific question: It is highly unlikely that switching from an annual to a monthly subscription plan in October has any direct impact on Zoom's application performance or meeting quality.

Zoom performance is determined by technical factors like your internet connection, computer resources, and application settings, not by the billing cycle of your Pro account. A monthly subscription provides the exact same features and service quality as an annual one.

You can troubleshoot this by focusing on minimizing resource usage and maximizing network stability.

Category Action How to Resolve/Check
Connection Stability Switch to a Wired Connection If possible, connect your computer directly to your router using an Ethernet cable. This provides the most stable and fastest connection.
Limit Network Usage Ask others in your home to pause streaming, large downloads, or gaming while you are in a meeting.
Restart Network Hardware Power cycle your router and modem. Unplug them, wait 60 seconds, and plug them back in.
System Resources Close Unnecessary Apps Close all non-essential applications, browser tabs, and background processes (like cloud sync, large downloads, etc.) before and during your meeting.
Check for Updates Ensure your Zoom application is updated to the latest version. Also, check for any pending operating system updates or driver updates (especially graphics and network drivers).
Restart Your Computer A simple restart can clear temporary files and memory leaks that might be slowing down your system.
Zoom Settings Disable HD Video In Zoom Settings > Video, uncheck the box for "Enable HD." This significantly reduces the required bandwidth.
Avoid Resource-Intensive Features Temporarily disable or use simpler options for Virtual Backgrounds and Video Filters, as these use a lot of CPU power.
Use Speaker View If you're using Gallery View with many participants, switching to Speaker View can reduce the number of video feeds your computer has to process.
