I see that I am assigned an instant meeting ID, but how do I connect with with the other person

Your instant meeting ID - referred to in Zoom as your PMI or Personal Meeting ID - is just a regular meeting ID like any other.  You copy the invitation or the Meeting ID and Passcode and send to them, and they join just like a scheduled meeting.
