How to upgrade when a sign-in is required, but you can't sign in unless you're upgraded?

Catch-22. Trying to upgrade to the latest version, but when I try to sign in, Zoom says I need 5.14 to sign in, and I should see my IT admin. I don't have 5.14, and I don't have an IT admin. How can I upgrade?

I finally found the answer: uninstall the old version. It was so old that the new version would not simply replace it. Uninstall, then install latest.
