How do I stop meetings from ending if I leave as the host

I am the host of a meeting, if I leave the meeting the meeting ends.  I know I can move the host to someone else, but is there a setting which allows me to stop this from happening so if a host leaves on any meeting it doesn't end?  I don't want to have to change host averytime?

    Aloha,

I have the same problem. I do not understand why, for a commercial account, the host cannot leave the meeting and let it continue. I do understand why this is not a good idea for a free account.

    Hi, @matthewdewstowe  and @PiaHawaii,,

See this Zoom Support article for details:

    https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362573-Passing-host-controls-to-leave-the-meeting

All you need to do is select someone to be the Host after you leave. If you are the only person in the meeting, your only option is to close the meeting on exit.

the OP specifically said " I know I can move the host to someone else, but is there a setting which allows me to stop this from happening so if a host leaves on any meeting it doesn't end?  I don't want to have to change host everytime?"

That makes your solution unsatisfactory. Is there any option to manage this on enterprise level?

Thats all very well if you plan to leave and can assign someone else - however this morning I dropped out of zoom (?interet ? zoom ? battery failure) and everyone else dropped off - without a feature to continue the meeting without the host (at least for the 5 minutes it takes to reconnect) is very disruptive and uncompassionate about what happens in the "real world"

Designate someone as Co-Host. They will become Host if your access is cut off. When you rejoin, you’ll be given the opportunity to reclaim Host.

    Ray

There are several posts on this where appointing a co-host does not allow the meeting to continue - if I understand it

My point is that as a host you can unexpectedly leave for reasons that just occur - unplanned

Zoom just needs a clear process to deal with the foreseable issues that happen in meetings

Here's the version of this problem that is really bothering me!

I'm the main host. I created the meeting

I've designated a co-host when I set it up. (I pay for a second seat in my pro zoom account.)

The co-host starts the meeting. I join, and I am asked do I want to 'take over hosting' or 'remain co-host.'

I choose to 'remain co-host' b/c I may not stay the full time.

Then the designated co-host who started the meeting, and is currently the HOST, needs to leave suddenly.

Even though I have the current status of 'co-host,' when she leaves the entire meeting is ended.

That did not happen in times past.

Zoom developers, can you please return us to former status?

Or is the need to be able to end an meeting so urgent, that the designated host always end the meeting fully, in spite of co-hosts being present in the zoom room?

    Thanks for any insight!

We are having the same issue.  We have a client call set up where both myself and a co-worker are co-hosts.  We both have paid zoom accounts.  If I leave the call while he is still there, everyone is kicked out.  I have to stop what I'm doing, click on the attendees, choose someone else to be the host, and then leave the call.  It's frustrating, and unnecessary.  What's the point in having the co-host?  And why not bring back the option, when I click to leave the call, of ending the call or assigning another host?  That at least, kept me from forgetting that I was going to kick everyone else out.  The current process is clunky, frustrating, and as someone said above, not conducive to how things work in the real world.

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @cheshiree13! You can try assigning an alternative host to your meetings.

As others have pointed out - this does not work. If the main host unexpectedly leaves the meeting (think, internet unexpectely goes out) the meeting ends for everyone without recourse. Even if there are multiple co-hosts for the meeting.

When someone clicks the End Meeting for All, they should get a prompt to ask if they want to assign the host to someone else.

Also agree that if a co-host is setup, if one co-host leaves, it should automatically switch to the other one and NOT end a meeting.

    The disruption is real.
