Hover text blocks clicks

Just reporting a bug as best I can.

The hover text that appears when your mouse is hovered over any of the buttons during a call has the chance of blocking any mouse clicks to said buttons. I've only really experienced it with the mute/unmute button but I'm sure it happens with the other ones too. It's really annoying! It's definitely gotta be a bug and I couldn't find anything for specifically reporting bugs so here I am.

Hi @mmcmurdy, feel free to Sending a problem report and client logs so we can get it in front of the appropriate team.

Also, I did try testing this... From testing, I wasn't able to duplicate unless I am misunderstanding your question. Also, I was still able to click over the hovered messages. Check the quick video  😀

Have you attempted to uninstall/reinstall the latest version of Zoom as well?

Gotcha, I reported the bug through the app. Thanks for letting me know about that.

For some reason, your hover text is appearing lower than mine does. Mine actually appears more toward the center of the button and sometimes it encapsulates where my mouse is entirely. Like so:

I just tried reinstalling the app, will update if that helps!

Okay, so I made a mistake in my last post, the hover text appears with the bottom left corner matched up with the mouse pointer tip like this:

That's where the text appears when the app is maximized. It DOES appear below when the app is a smaller window. But I have it maximized all the time so I can read our shared screen azure board.

If I move the mouse even a tiny bit up and to the right while clicking, the mouse gets blocked by the hover text. It seems I do that a lot unintentionally. Either way, I definitely think hover text blocking mouse clicks is a bug.

I checked this again AFTER reinstalling the app.

This is still an issue for me, too.  I thought maybe the recent update would have addressed it, but the hover text/tooltip is still blocking the click event from propagating down to the button.

    To restate the issue...
If you (accidentally) move your mouse over a button's hover text, it will fade out over a half second or so.  If you click during that half second, the click event is swallowed, and the button below does not respond to the click.

This also happens regularly for me using the latest version. If I move the cursor to a button and click within a very short time there's no issue but, as is often the case with the mute button, I will tend to hover over the button which then gets obscured by the hover text. If my cursor moves a few pixels over the text and I then click, it ignores the attempt at muting/un-muting.

I'd really like there to be an option to simply disable hover-text/tool-tips or whatever these are called nowadays. Would also be nice to make the settings searchable by key-word as they are getting pretty big now.

How can this not be fixed five years later? I tried to google how to disable these and of course their AI answer lied and said there was a setting but there isnt. I host Zoom conferences regularly and every single time this happens more than once, my click hits the stupid tooltip and blocks me from muting/unmuting. I am running a new Windows desktop computer and always the latest Zoom version, this bug has existed as long as I can remember.

Here on this thread to report that I'm having the exact same issue here, now, in the year of our lord 2025. Why isn't there an option to turn off tooltips? This is so janky and interferes with my ability to use Zoom every time I am hosting meetings, which is about daily.
