Gallery View not Compatible error

Good day to all.  Hope someone can guide me. Recently had a family meeting with 3 participants. Two having windows pc's and a third using a Chrome OS Chromebook. With the windows users there were no issues with gallery view. The Chome OS user could not use gallery view. Error message says: gallery not compatible with this device. Can anyone guide me so I can help my mum? Thank you.

Thank you for your reply and the link provided. Zoom PWA is what is installed on the said Chromebook and still that error message pops up... Gallery view not compatible with the device.  And I would like to know what "customisable gallery view (on supported machines)" really means. Thanks again. M.

An excerpt from the link provided:

Our PWA offers much of the same great Zoom functionality as you would experience on a Windows or Mac desktop, and has even more features than the previous Zoom app for Chromebook:

New issue for us today. Been using zoom with chromebook for 2 years.  Today, signed on and can't get gallery view.  Says gallery view not compatible with this device.  Well it was yesterday!

its the browser based version of the Zoom client. its unfortunate that it doesn't work for every single model and version of Chromebook. At least Zoom still supports the platform on specific devices that meet the hardware requirements. Have you tried clicking the Chromebook settings and check for system update. sometimes there is updates to the hardware on your Chromebook. its worth a try.

Thanks for your reply. Just today I updated Chrome OS remotely for mum. Still same issue AND a new issue today. No video, even after sending participant a request to start her video, although audio works. Yesterday, meeting with 3 participants had video and audio without issues. Today video didn't work. Zoom kept asking to check permissions for the camera from the browser, which I did, and all permissions are ok. (I didn't have these many issues with her previous windows pc).

I googled this issue, and came across the link below which might answer some questions although offers no solutions. Thank you for your assistance.

Another new issue I forgot to mention is, her online status has, since the beginning of installing the new zoom pwa, has shown as offline even though she is online and in a meeting. In the windows version of the app I can solve this through the settings gear icon. But not figured a way yet with zoom pwa... No settings gear icon? Or maybe I missed it? Thanks.

This is a new problem - apparently Zoom changed the PWA today - gallery view was working fine yesterday on my Chromebook (pixelbook go) and today it says it doesn't support it. This is VERY annoying! Please, Zoom, revert to the version that worked!

I don't have any suggestions, I just wanted to reply to say  I agree with you this is a new problem with zoom pwa. We have several Chromebooks, up-to-date, just bought this year, been using the zoom pwa. Yesterday morning we had gallery view. Last night we got on, all of a sudden no gallery view, and the box says device is not compatible for gallery view. Hopefully when Zoom sees more and more complaints here, they will look into it. Thank you for posting!

This is such a pain. Zoom, please stop making unannounced changes to things. Been using the PWA for a long time on ChromeOS... this type of change causes lots of confusion for people. This morning, no proper gallery view, just telling me that my very hardware capable machine is not compatible.

I’m just a Zoom community member myself working at a university. Zoom does announce changes and status updates. Do you subscribe to these pages?

I dont however... theres nothing on those pages about this change rolled out today.

Even if you go to the release notes for the PWA theres nothing since Nov and nothing talking about rolling back gallery and speaker view.

Note: the 'view from web browser' works just fine... still has gallery and speaker view. Its just the PWA, which makes no sense at all.

Update... Today gallery view works on participant using Zoom PWA on Chromebook. Video also works. I hope that it will continue working without hiccups. Thank you all for the valuable contributions.
