Function of Attendee field in Meeting Setup

What is the function of the Attendee field in a Meeting Setup?  As far as I can tell it does nothing.

OK, if I configure calendar and contact integration, what then does being on the list do?

  1. Have invitations sent to the list at appropriate times?
  2. Can be administered to limit access to meeting to those on the list?
  3. Other things?
