When I need to reduce the person I'm meeting with in order to have a document on my screen, the thumbnail is extremely small. In Skype and other meeting platforms, I'm able to use the mouse to resize the image. Zoom doesn't seem to be able to do this. There must be some way to enlarge the thumbnail. The person I'm talking to is barely visible in the default size. When I Google this problem, the result I get is to hit 2X, but that solution does not work.

Yeah. This really needs some work. The thumbnail size is the same on all computers. However, those of us who have 1440p, 4K or 8K monitors see the thumbnail in a very small overlay. For me it's too small to be useful.
Zoom needs to add a way for us to change the number of thumbnails and the size of them.

Any update on this please? Nearly a year has passed and anyone on a 4K screen sees a floating thumbnail so small that it's useless.
