For the past three years, I’ve been hosting a Zoom group with 11 participants, where none of them needed to enter a passcode or waiting room. My settings were configured to automatically embed the passcode, and the waiting room was disabled.
After updating the Zoom program, the direct joining feature no longer works as expected.
When setting up a meeting under "schedule" and selecting "security," I’m now required to choose between "waiting room" and "passcode." I selected "Passcode," thinking the embedded feature would still work, but it doesn’t. Now, my participants are prompted to enter a code.
Do you know why the embedded passcode feature no longer functions?

Hi saaron11111, welcome to Zoom Community.
Since 2020, during the pandemic, Zoom updated its security settings to improve the user experience with reference to "unwanted guests" and in this way enabled you to always have at least 1 of the 3 security functions enabled for a meeting:
- Passcode
- Waiting Room
- User authentication
Therefore, it is not possible to delete the three security configurations, only through a support ticket.
But you can include the passcode in the meeting invitation link, it is only necessary to enable that configuration, first at the account level and then at the group and/or user level. I add a screenshot.

The "Embed ...." in Account Management are is and has been ticked off for years.
Does your posting "then at the group and/or user level" mean i should click "Passcode" in the scheduling? Or are you referring to some other area? Clicking Passcode here produces the manual request for Passcode.
I agree...you have to make a choice of one of the three.
By the way, Thanks for your response.
Steven

It seems to be working with the "Embed Passcode..." feature.
I sent the link to my wife’s laptop about 30 times. Each time, Zoom prompted her to upgrade, but it still asked for a passcode, so I assume it didn't work.
I tested by sending a Zoom link to one of my participants, and it went straight in.

P.S. Now I need to figure out why my wife’s laptop is failing to upgrade Zoom.

Hi saaron11111.
Yes, it is necessary to have the "passcode" option activated when configuring a new meeting, because you must have at least one of the three security functions, but if you have enabled the configuration of adding the passcode in the link, it should to give you direct access when you click on the link.
In the case of your wife's laptop, you could confirm if the desktop application is updated to its latest version. In my territory it is version 6.3.5, I send you a screenshot.
