Question

Cannot turn off audio alerts on mac

Starting a week or 2 ago, my mac desktop app started announcing people joining / leaving the meeting. The same happens when someone starts screen sharing.

I am the host of the meetings, and I am using latest Mac desktop app (apple silicon).

I went to the accessibility settings and unchecked all screen reader alerts. Nothing was changed.

Any idea how to disable these alerts?

Hello,

Try:

Desktop app > Settings> Accessibility > Screen reader alerts.

Hi,

There re only two source for these alerts that I know of;

  • Zoom screen reader alerts
  • Your Mac OS accessibility  settings.

Did you check your accessibility options on your operating system?

Regards

Thanks for your reply.
I get this alerts only when using Zoom. This is clearly a zoom thing. It doesn't happen when I use Google Meet or Microsoft teams.

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @jadswizz. I'm sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. You can try logging in to your web browser, then under settings > meeting > toggle Sound notification when someone joins or leaves to off.

I have this same issue, and don't see this option in the web browser. All my accessibility options are unchecked in the Zoom app.
