Can't share sound while screen sharing

I am not able to share sound while sharing screen on zoom anymore. I am a Mac user. I am used to share my screen to watch videos with my friends but one day it suddenly stopped to share my computer's sound. I have tried everything I could find out on the app. I have tried re-installing the zoom app and restarting my computer. I have selected all the different types of audio sharing options(Off, mono, stereo(high-fidelity)). When I select mono or stereo options even I can't hear sound of the video but when the "OFF" options is selected while screen sharing, I can hear the sound fine but other people in the meeting can only hear the dialogues of the video and not the background music, which is very strange to me(I was playing the video on VLC media player). I am not sure of the uniqueness of the problem so if anyone else have faced it and knows how to solve it please help. Thanks!

I am having a similar issue. When you select share sound, does a prompt box come up asking you for a password?

No. It lets me select the share sound option, but doesn't share the sound.

When you share, the screen has the option to share sound.

This will be your default sound option, so ensure that whatever app you are using to create sound is using the default sound device on your system.

Have done that. In fact I have only one sound option and naturally that is the default option set on both zoom and the app that I am creating to generate sound. Moreover, zoom stopped sharing sound in between a video which is the strange thing here. So one moment everyone in the meeting could hear the sound and then out of nowhere we (yes me included)could not. Also this is happening when I am using both mono and stereo. When I am turning off the sound as I have mentioned in the first write up of the query, everyone(including me) can hear the sound (but other people could only hear the dialogues). I think thats because zoom is not sharing sound but it is in fact taking sound from my speakers and cancelling the background noise, hence they could only hear the dialogues. So all in all zoom is not sharing sound.
