Can't log into my own personal meeting room

I am using my personal meeting room link to schedule meetings. I attach the link to a meeting in my calendar, but when I click on the link in my calendar, while logged into my zoom account, I get put into the waiting room, waiting for the host to start the meeting. But I AM the host.

The only thing I have found that could possibly be the issue is that my calendar is a different email address than my zoom account? Is it because I'm clicking on the link from my email that it doesn't recognize me in zoom? But i'm already logged into the zoom account on my computer. So it doesn't seem right.

HELP!

Hi langham,

Why This Happens?

Even though you’re logged into Zoom, here’s what can cause the “host waiting room” problem:

1. You’re signed into Zoom under a different account than the meeting’s host account.

  • Your calendar email and your Zoom account email don’t match.
  • When you click the calendar link, Zoom launches and checks which user is logged in.
  • If the email address of the logged-in account doesn’t match the host email for that Personal Meeting ID, Zoom treats you as a participant, not the host — hence the waiting room.
  • This is the most common cause when your calendar uses one email and your Zoom host account uses another.

    2. The calendar link opens Zoom in a browser first.

    • Clicking a meeting link from a calendar or email often opens a browser window.
    • If you’re not logged into Zoom in that browser (or logged into a different account there), the meeting starts under that browser identity.
    • Even if your Zoom desktop app is signed in correctly, the browser login mismatch can confuse Zoom.

      3. Your PMI or meeting is set to “Waiting Room for Everyone.”

      • Check your Personal Meeting Room settings:
        • Go to zoom.us/profile → Personal Meeting ID → Edit.
        • If “Enable Waiting Room” is turned on for everyone, then even you can be placed in the waiting room until you properly claim host privileges.

          4. Zoom host privileges not automatically claimed.

          • If “Join before host” is disabled, and you enter the room without Zoom recognizing you as the host (for any of the above reasons), you’ll be in the waiting room until you sign in as the host manually.

            How to Fix It

Here are reliable fixes, depending on the cause:

Fix 1: Ensure You’re Signed Into the Correct Zoom Account

            1. Open your Zoom desktop app.
            2. Click your profile picture → Switch Account.
            3. Confirm you’re logged into the same account associated with your Personal Meeting ID.
            4. Try joining again from your calendar link.

Fix 2: Sign Into Zoom in Your Browser Before Clicking the Link

              1. Go to zoom.us/signin.
              2. Sign in using the same account as your Zoom desktop app.
              3. Then click your calendar link again — now the browser will pass the correct credentials to the app.

Fix 3: Verify Your Waiting Room Settings

                1. In Zoom web portal → Settings → Security → Waiting Room.
                2. Check:
                  • If “Who should go in the waiting room?” is set to “Everyone,” switch it to “Guests only” (users not signed in to your organization).
                  • This ensures that when you’re logged in as the host, you go straight in.

Fix 4: Use the “Start Meeting” Button Instead

Instead of clicking the calendar link, open Zoom and:

                    • Go to the Meetings tab → Personal Meeting Room → click Start.
                    • This ensures you start the meeting as the host directly, rather than joining as a participant.
