Automatic recording at start of meeting

Hello,

When connecting to a meeting, a recording automatically starts. I am not the one that initiates it (nor my invitees). Is there any way to stop this? I do not want to record every meeting I have on Zoom.

Thanks !

Joel

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @joelmclean.

Someone probably set the switch that automatically enables recording.  Depending on whether you generate new Meeting IDs for each meeting or use the Personal Meeting ID for everything, the switch can be located in one of two places.

Using Generated Meeting IDs

For "Generated Meeting IDs" (which I highly recommend), go to Personal -> Settings -> Recording tab (not shown below) and locate the Automatic Recording switch:

If it's blue/to the right, drag it to the left to make it grey.

Using Personal Meetings IDs (PMI)

If you are using your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) for all meetings, go to Personal -> Meetings -> Personal Room tab:

Click the Edit button at the bottom:

Click the Show link next to Options:

UN-check the Automatically record meeting check box:

Click the blue Save button down below.

If none of these options appear for you and you are in a larger organization, contact your organization's Zoom Admin for assistance, as they might have made a change to the global settings which you can't change.

Thanks for your help! I checked, and they were already off. I believe it records because I activated the AI feature to recap the meeting?

Yes it does, but it doesn’t keep those recordings after it’s done analyzing them. It also doesn’t shoe the red recording icon on the Participant list or the top bar of the meeting window.
