Audio cuts out

Hi,  I keep having problems while on zoom meetings in an environment where there is background noise.

When I come off mute it automatically cuts off sound from anyone else who is speaking and I can't go hear them.  I presume it's to do with background noise at my end.  Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening as it's very difficult to have a conversation.

Most likely you are using speakers instead of headphones which are set higher because of the background noise. When you unmute those speakers are feeding back to your mic and Zooms echo cancellation is trying to stop the feedback. If you are in a noisy environment be sure to use a headset (headphone and mic together) with a noise cancelling mic in combination with Zooms echo cancellation.
