Annotation Bar

Very recently the annotation bar has changed.  It is no longer horizontal but is now vertical.  It also has several additional buttons.  I have played with all the the new things but would like to know where I can go to read about them or get more detailed information.  Love the extra colors available but sometimes it is difficult to change from one color to another.  Would apprciate any detailed information.

    I find that the vertical annotate bar is enormously problematic, because when sharing screen in programs like Photoshop, it overlaps the tool bar below, making it almost impossible to find. Very frustrating. Does anyone know how to keep it horizontal like before, rather than having to continually drag it up every time?
