Settings helped really, really needed for local recording of a Webinar

Hello!

Can someone please tell me what settings I need to check so that:

1. Host (me)  is recorded in the webinar when I share my screen (see pic "1" - only screenshare visible in recording)

2. Host and panelist with cameras off don't appear in the recording as small videos when another panelist is presenting (see pic "2" where videos are present on the right)

3. When in gallery view (needed because two people are having a conversation), only host and panelist with camera on should be visible - how do I get rid of the "Pam" square (Pam was a panelist). (See pic "3")

Thank you. This is rather urgent since I am recording tomorrow and last time was not good. In the past I have not had this issue so I am not sure what was different this last time.

Hi, @Librarycat!  Good to see you again.

Hopefully you’ve seen this helpful document:

https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0062314

It may not directly answer all of your questions, but is the only definitive recording layout guide I’ve seen.

I’m confused about your questions a little (maybe the images aren’t in the right order).

I think you are wanting your image to be recorded when screen sharing, but not “off to the side”. For Local/Computer recording, enable Record video during screen sharing but disable Place videos next to the shaded screen. This will place your video in the upper right corner, but overlaying the screen share slightly.

When not screen sharing but wanting to control who is visible, try spotlighting the two cameras. I can’t recall how the local recording handles this exactly, but I suggest giving it a test run to check it out.

As I think you’ve discovered, the output captured in both Cloud and Local recordings almost never matches what you see on your screen.  The cloud recording mode gives you many more options, but will likely require some post-session editing to get the view you want. Local recording only adds one camera video to the Screen Sharing layout.

Hi, @Librarycat

Need help with your local recording layout?

I don't know what layout you want to record in, so this may not be an adequate answer, but here are some settings that may give you a clue.
Please check your desktop application settings for local recording.

Try “Hide non-video participants” to hide panelists who are not using the camera.

Hi, @Librarycat
The Workplace application is a computer setup.
Local recording takes place on the computer and is dependent on the computer setup.
Since you have changed computers, it is likely that you have default settings.
Zoom has two types of settings: Account Setup and Application Setup, as the features available may vary depending on the computer's capabilities.

Hi Ray and Ohkawa,

Good to see you again, too, Ray!

Thank you for your answers. I think I could have said it much clearer - I only want the shared screen and the presenter recorded. Normally if someone has their camera off, their profile pic/black rectangle or video is not visible on the recording. This has worked beautifully for years. However...the last recording showed the panelists black square when they had their camera off. You could see it in the live webinar and in the local recording. I didn't change any settings that I know of, but I was on a different computer. Is the app configured for the computer or for the Zoom account? Maybe that's it?

Ohkawa,

Oh GEEZ, that is indeed what happened. Through a mess of circumstances at the last minute I had to use a computer that I had never used before, therefore the app was not set up at all. I thought if I logged into the app with my account that would be enough but if it is dependent on computer set up, THAT EXPLAINS IT. THANK YOU. I ad no idea that the application setup was separate from the account.
