No emoji option in chat during webinar, where other participants have emojis. v 5.17.11 on a Mac

I'm frustrated when I'm participating in webinars where everyone else has emojis, but I don't. The option in Settings for Allow participants to react to meeting chat messages using emojis is ON. 
I am on a Pro account, and I want to be able to use emojis when I'm participating in webinars, and everyone else has emojis but me.

Help, please.
