Participants no long visible when they talk

All of a sudden participants do not appear on the primary speaker view when they talk. I had turned off 'display participants name when recording' but I don't know if this caused the issue as I see a previous post with the same issue. Any idea why this is happening?

    There may be a configuration problem.

    Are you hiding participants who are video hidden?

      I just download the video and edit it so I don't know how its being recorded. We had some fill-in hosts while the usual host was away, but when she returned the participants videos returned, so when they spoke their video appeared. The host said there was an option something like "enable participants to start video" but I'm not sure if that's the setting that made the difference. Zoom has the most cryptic check boxes 🙂 If anyone can enlighten me...

      It is still assumed that the host has set the non-video participants to be hidden.

      Non-video participants have their camera turned off all through the talk. That wasn't the issue. People with their video on were not being shown when they talked.
