10 minute delay to reconnect after 40m session

PauloF
Listener

Starting today, I am experiencing a situation that never happened before. After a 40 minutes meeting session, when I try to reconnect, I'm told to wait 10 minutes before being able to reconnect.

Is this a new (unexpected) feature of Zoom Meetings, or was it some kind of error?

Hi, I have the same problem and it is very, very inconvenient! if this is now a new thing all this is doing is going to make me change platforms.

Yup I agree.   Time to look around for alternatives.

Ummm how about “no” and “I’m going to go use another platform”. Thank you for the do over Zoom

Back to Skype I go. Thanks zoom for connecting me to my family but I will stick with a free way rather than subscribe. 40 min cutoff I get but enforcing 10 mins is complete a BS move.

imagine calling this innovation

Lol 😂

You know, I was okay when Zoom realized they could make a lot more money off of mental health during covid when they switched to a time limit of 40 minutes forcing us to either be okay with interrupting our sessions and restarting or purchasing the update - we had a choice at least.  Now, it seems that just isn't good enough and you aren't making enough money for those of us who didn't upgrade. Well, our 5 mental health offices will now be switching to Doxy where it is free and the service works just as well.  We don't need all the extra bells and whistles - we just want to help people.  Thanks for nothing Zoom.

It is insulting to pretend that enforcing a ten-minute delay for reconnection is "supporting Zoom customers' many use cases." There is no use case in which anyone needs an artificial delay before reconnecting. This is not going to make you friends or win anybody over to your paid service.

I would have tolerated an occasional ad or something- but this is too much. I only used the Zoom meetings once a week, so I'm off to Discord.

Hi Carla, If I use the calendar to schedule 30 minute meetings, can I make these back-to-back? Or - do I still need to wait 10 minutes between 30 minute scheduled meetings? Thank you!

Wish there was a NOT LIKE button. So many other free options...  this "innovation" is pushing me away, along with many others.

"Zoom is constantly innovating our product offerings and testing ways to support Zoom customers’ many use cases." You call this an innovation?!?!? Seriously? This is backwards innovation. In other words: A moneymaking scheme.

Good Evening Carla,

Is this anywhere in Zoom documentation, or are we just relying on support members replies in the forum?  Everything I can find in the documentation says nothing about cooldowns, waiting periods, or other such hurtful  tactics to get subscribers.  In fact, per the Zoom article https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0070458 it specifically states "You can either end the meeting and restart it for an additional 40 minutes, or you upgrade to Pro for unlimited meeting durations. "

Where else can we get clarification of what is going on?

Thank you,

Binaryatt

Implementing this with no warning message about the wait to restart is just plain rude. Yes, I paid, because I had to finish the meeting, but I chose the plan that will allow me to cancel it at the end of the month and move to one of the other services. If you’d given me warning I’d still be with you as a paying customer, but you put me in a tight spot to extort a membership and I don’t want to do business with companies like that.
