I would like to know if it is mandatory for an attendee to have a ZOOM account to register in an event?

If you create a Zoom Event then yes, all your attendees will need a zoom account to join.  If yoru event is just a zoom meeting or webinar they do NOT need an account unless you "require authentication to join"

No, it's not mandatory.

''Require authentication to join'' is an optional security option when creating a meeting. By default it's disabled.

So to answer your question, if you did not check that box when you created the meeting, the attendee are not required to have a Zoom account to join your meeting.

Is it the same to an Zoom event or a Zoom webinar?

It's the same for webinar. For Zoom events, you have to buy a ticket, you need to be logged in to your account to buy the ticket. So yes Zoom events require an account.

it's a big inconvenience to have a zoom account to register for a Zoom event.

If that's the case for a Zoom Event, that's ridiculous. It's a huge obstacle to attendance to require attendees to have a Zoom account to attend.

It's the purpose of Zoom events ... it's an event an often it's a paid event, so the host will want to control who can get in, and who cannot get in. How would you do that if you do not require them to be logged in?

If that's not for you, just use a regular meeting or webinar. There's plenty of options for everyone.

Some events are free and have several hundred attendees from all over the world, and we have to provide credit for attending - it's an event and we need to use the Events platform. It is absolutely a huge inconvenience to force attendees to log into their Zoom accounts, assuming they have one, before being able to attend. Not only will it 100% cause us to lose attendees, but it will also cause headaches on the customer service end. To make matters worse, this setting causes problems with reconciling attendance for crediting purposes because instead of the attendees being required to enter their email, first and last names before entering the webinar, they are simply logging into their accounts. Oftentimes names are displayed incorrectly in the attendee's Zoom profile, and they don't know how to change it. The name are displayed incorrectly on the attendance roster and we don't know who it is. It would be a lot easier to require attendees to enter their information manually upon attending.

8 months later Zoom should have made this an optional setting by now.

Any solution to this?  Is it still required for attendees to have a zoom account to use Zoom Events?

It seems that Event attendees in China cannot get a free personal account to join my event. Is there a solution?
